Changing the Purpose of I Have A Book Blog Now

I Have A Book Blog Now was originally started to allow me to share my thoughts on incredible books like Little Boy Blue, Throne of Glass, and many other books. For the short time that I did this, it has been a journey of changing my reading style and taste. Now that I look back at the books that I’ve loved for so long, I remember each book’s story, and I think everyone should have a chance to feel that way about books, even if it may only be two or so.

As I’ve gone through the year of 2017, I’ve learned so many things that amaze me – and these are now things that I want to commit to. These interests range from quantum biology all the way to creative writing, and they’re now a bit different than reading. These are the things that have a real purpose for me. So that’s why I’m here today, telling you of my love to these subject that others dread, but learn to love.

This blog will remain “I Have A Book Blog Now” but will now include all different kinds of articles about science and political news with a few opinion articles. Although this is a current work in progress, and unlike my reviewing career, this won’t be short-lived.

Reading is still a big part of my life and I’ll continually read books because that’s also what I love, but it’s time for me to do something different.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Heartless Marissa Meyer

Non-Spoiler Review

IMG_5252.JPG

Yet another book by an amazing author. A brilliant, New York Times best-selling author, with a record of breaking hearts or ending a series too soon. The author of the Cinder series – Marissa Meyer.

The book, Heartless, was beautifully written. Although it had a couple of adjustments that you could possibly add into Heartless.

For those of you who haven’t read the book, Heartless follows the young Queen of Hearts – Catherine. Except she isn’t the Queen of Hearts, but a young daughter of a baron and baroness. She lives her everyday life cooking with her best friend (as a maid) by her side counting digits and planning their bakery for once Catherine is no longer worried about the young and foolish king who hopes for her to become his queen.

Heartless is a book that absolutely broke my heart in every single aspect, just like many of Marissa Meyer’s other books. Although it was heartbreaking it was beautiful and majestic too.

Heartless had the effect many books fail to achieve, the what I like to call heartless and heart-broken character after an event effect. They don’t achieve the attention of the reader, and sometimes if done incorrectly I begin to laugh at the writing. But, this was a book that didn’t fail. It broke my heart, and I’m lost collecting all the pieces.

I’m almost speechless, but at the same time, I have so many things to say about Catherine and every event that happened in the book.

But, to summarize: it’s a book you shouldn’t miss. It’s a book that should at once become a YA classic, one could go as far to say. It was brilliant and memorable, all the things you want in a stand-alone novel.

5/5 flowers from me.

What I’ll Be Reading in January

It’s January, and well, this is long over-due: but here’s what I’ll be reading this month. Most of the books I’ll be reading this month are more ‘catching up’ with the whole entire YA craze, so nothing new, but I’ll most probably read a couple of new books too.

  • img_1574This Savage Song Victoria Schwab – If you haven’t noticed yet, This Savage Song was released June 6, 2016, but of course: I haven’t read it yet. It’s a Young Adult and Fantasy novel written by the New-York Times Best-Seller Victoria Schwab. I’ve enjoyed her previous writing, and have high hopes for This Savage Song.img_0889
  • Three Dark Crows Kendare Blake – Another book that was released in 2016, Three Dark Crowns was released September 20, 2016. The genre of Three Dark Crowns is Fantasy and Young Adult, just like This Savage Song and holds a rating of 3.85 currently on GoodReads.IMG_4419.JPG
  • Proxy Alex London – Although I’ve already started this book, I thought it’d still make it on here. Proxy was released, June 18 of 2013 with the genre of Dystopia and Young Adult. I have a feeling it’s not ending too well, but I’ll see.img_6941
  • The Thousandth Floor Katharine McGee – I started this book in September. I’m horrible when it comes to committing my time to books that I just started and have no idea about. I don’t know why I put it down, but I NEED TO FINISH IT.IMG_0859.JPG
  • Stars Above Marissa Meyer – The most majestical wedding of all. That’s why I bought, and that’s why I need it. Released in 2016, and it’s by Marissa Meyer. That’s all I need to know to buy a book.

So, those were all the books that I plan to read, but of course, I’ll buy some more and read them – so, more books at the end of the month! I hope everyone’s having a nice day, and thanks for reading.

Inactivity?

Hey everyone,

It’s Catherine here, and I just would like to tell you I’m finally going to become more active on all book-related things, including this blog.

I’ve had a lot of things going on in my life, but I’m finally back from everything.

Thank you for your understanding,

-Catherine

Armed & Delicious

Armed & Delicious

Disclaimer: I did receive this as an e-Galley from the publisher via NetGalley.

Armed & Delicious. I’m kind of surprised how this book ended. Let me tell you, this book wasn’t the worst. Something felt off about this book. The more I think about it, the less I like it.

I don’t know why, or what is wrong with this book. It just felt wrong, out of place, missing an element. If you aren’t aware of what this book is about, it’s about Jimmy “Sparks” Langala, who is a regular kid. Until he gets a job. I was so mad, of what he became, I just didn’t enjoy a kid, with decent grades to join the MAFIA. Yes, this is insane. I actually enjoyed this, though, seriously, I have a problem with this topic. I just don’t enjoy it.

3 stars for Armed & Delicious.

1.) Revival

What second book was better than the first book?

Prodigy By Marie Lu

prodigy_marie_lu_book

I didn’t enjoy Legend a lot, it felt more like a drag for me, and I almost didn’t finish the series! I’m glad I continued to read it, though, for all you Legend fans, you know what I mean…. *wink* I devoured Prodigy and thanks to this book, I fell in love with Marie Lu’s writing style.

2.) Kill ‘Em With Kindness

What book made you feel somewhat invincible as if you were the heroine?

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

10215349

Allison was just such a magnificent character! I got this book on my birthday, though I swear I don’t love it just because of that, it’s rather that I just really enjoy this. Allison made me feel good on the inside with all the things going on in her head.

3.) Hands To Myself

What book do you think you read at the wrong time?

Angel Rock Leap by Ellen Weisberg

I’m not entirely sure about this one. This book was just boring, I couldn’t stand it. I’m not sure if I was just being grumpy, or I actually didn’t enjoy it.

Every time, every time. When a good book ends, I start balling my eyes out. And, when something like THIS happens, I start screeching and crying.

8.) Me & The Rhythm

What book character would you want your “rhythm”?” (Sidekick)

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

daughter-of-deep-silence-small

I feel like Frances is very deceptive, so I could get help from her, and become besties <3, no JK. Frances is really dangerous; that’s what I like about her. She’s evil, yet has a heart. She’s a true-born liar, another thing to like. What’s not to like?

9.) Survivors

If you read it, you know it.

14.) Perfect

The more I read this, and read other books, the more I hated it for being such a cliche.
